Transmissions Received

Transmissions Received is an ongoing archive of works that treat light, motion and mathematics as signals, and each piece as a relic of those signals passing through the world. Using cyanotype, lasers, cameras and custom-built devices, I record the behaviour of systems rather than depict them: the work is what remains after the signal has moved on.

This pillar currently includes the following sub-series:

• Prouns – laser cyanotypes inspired by El Lissitzky’s spatial abstractions, translating vector geometries and signal paths into dense, architectural prints.

• Laser Cyanotypes – direct recordings of laser-drawn paths on sensitised paper, treating the beam itself as a drawing instrument and a carrier of information.

• Field-line Cyanotypes – visualisations of electric and other potential fields, where computed field lines are exposed as ghostly structures in cyanotype.

• Cyanotype Postcards – small-format “messages” and fragments, often typed and mailed, functioning as portable transmissions sent into the world.

• Light Flukes – camera-based recordings of laser harmonograms, capturing oscillatory light traces generated by a physical dynamical system.

• Harmonograph Device – the custom-built apparatus that produces many of these traces; presented as an instrument for generating and receiving visual signals.
